Check to make sure the saddle and seat post are not loose, and the seat post is not too high

Squeeze the front tyre to make sure it is fully pumped up. Check that it is not worn and there are no cracks

Check the handlebars are fixed firmly. Make sure they don't spin or rock back and forth

Make sure the back tyre is pumped up and that it is not worn or cracked

Make sure the front gear moves the chain from one ring to the next.

Check that the cranks are not loose.

Spin the pedals. Make sure they spin freely

Make sure the front wheel
is bolted in tightly, the hub bearings are not tight or too loose, and that no spokes are broken or missing

The front wheel should lock when the front brake is pulled on.

Make sure there are two brake blocks and they both line up with the rim

The back wheel should lock when the back brake is pulled on.

Make sure there are two brake blocks and they both line up with the rim

Check the back gear moves the chain from one sprocket to the next

Check the chain runs smoothly,
it is clean and not rusty
